Screenshot Saturday: 0.3.7 Preview #33!

Good morning!

This week, I've been going between the different "sub-sidequests" of the next update, writing out dialogue and adding new dungeons. Two of these are extensions of existing dungeons, and there'll also be two previously-closed areas to explore. I'm slowly but surely making progress on that front.

So here's a first look at one of these new dungeons!

This room does need some detail work, but its main traits are clear. There's multiple levels to climb down, and also an unusual map encounter with a funny aura and angry eyes.

That encounter is one of the features of this dungeon; as Aida's saying, encounters like that one are very bad news. They've got increased speed, brutally strong attacks, and are bulky enough to easily take hits while they're throwing these attacks around- but they also have limited vision, so the best option is to avoid these fearsome foes.

Speaking of Aida- she's back for this dungeon, with an upgraded crossbow and some more support options!

Sorry to post another bug report while you're presumably still digesting the other one:

Archsage Cloak is saying +15% Grav Amp, but my Heavy Grav is still 700 vs. Aeternator?

Also, Evil Eye Burn isn't being restricted by Fairleaf?

Fire Set: Gastronomicon, Fairleaf, Archsage Cloak, Secure Ring, Evil Eye, Fire Aff, Magic Toxin Filter, Time Heals, Status Ward, Cover Aff

And yet even with 210% Fire Affinity, I didn't see Aeternator change off being Fire Weak to being weak to anything else, in my 500+ ticks? Or does he not react to my Affinity, but even if it's just re-evaluating after being hit, I had 5 Condensed Fires III which should trigger something?

The others just passed, actually!

Archsage Cloak, for some reason, was using the wrong internal name for Gravity amp. Both this and the Evil Eye Jewel's Burn timer are easily fixed; while there's only a few cases the latter might matter, there is an enemy that can hit 16 times in one turn, so it'd be better to take 7 Burn ticks than 10 Burn ticks.

Aeternator's AI does call all six Barrier Shifts, but I actually forgot to give him resistance to the Burn, Chill or Soften states, because he absorbs the elements. This is a minor oversight that should be easy enough to fix. He doesn't actually react to Amps in any meaningful way.

ISSUE: Challenge Tower: If someone's in the stairs out, I'm stuck and gotta wait.

...

Mythril Targe, Cursed Coronet, Aeric Raiment, Great Vim Crystal, Secure Ring, Battle Brooch, Filter, Time, Master, Catch Up, Nature, Else: Stone's Throw

Strat against the "Change that back" boss was just "Toss Lava Bomb II". Used all 3 of my crafted Phoenix Phormulas, but woo victory! Could've been faster if I didn't forget Heavy Grav, but still, success!

Not sure how I get 200 to 400 damage from the bombs, but I guess the boss is elemental weak?

Woo all the references! Not sure if the "Missing No." attack actually does what the Bestiary said, but I wasn't paying much attention?

Finally beat a Hard Tower Lord.

Cool new alternate Elf Brill!

Wait, how many Tower Points does beating a Hard Tower Lord give?

...

Mmm. Double Dragonstone is better than Secure Ring. Why? Well, it is what it is.

...

Did an accidental Lava Bomb when testing against Poison Blooms. Cursor location doesn't reset after Challenge? No biggie.

Poisons all fade after battle now? Makes sense once you have Lifeshield Robe, but probably shouldn't happen in Challenge Tower unless you're wearing it? Otherwise Purewater Bucket doesn't need to mention Poison?

Missing Number does remove the last digit- if it's blocked, it's set to 0, and if it's not blocked, it's "removed", setting the target's HP to the value it would be without it.

The Tower Lord in question is slightly weak to all elements! Running a double-element formula was actually a great move there.

Hard Tower Lords give 200 points plus 25 for each Tower Lord defeated. Also, if you still haven't defeated at least one Tower Lord, a Lord you haven't defeated is guaranteed to show up.

I'll set a certain NPC from "Random movement" to "Stand Still"; that should remove that issue for the most part.

BUG? Made a Custom: 70 Fire/Earth, 35% Windup and Delay, Burn 6t/15 dmg, Wall 6t/10 def, Multi Target, No Miss.

When applied ontop of a preexisting Rock Wall, like from Nature's Boon, the result has no turn meter number? And seems to not work with Stone's Throws??

...

Thanks for the info, yeah, I don't seem to have gotten points for my Hard Tower Lord win when I bailed right after. Starting at 201 Points, fighting to a Hard Tower Lord thrice and beating one once, got me to 929 points, which doesn't make sense if a win gets me 200 more points. I should have ~1000 more points, not ~700?

It was actually the Headband ninja "The longer your streak" guy that blocked me from leaving, and right now it's FAAAAAABULOUS PRIZES! girl that's blocking the way to Aeternator.

...

"setting the target's HP to the value it would be without it." - That explains why I think it did like 150+ damage.

Purple is basically flying. mmm. I kept blocking hoping it would land, but nope, just gotta tank the strikes with raw Defense and time my blocks for the big hit. Couldn't time a Reflect Thunder either. heh.

Still, being able to craft 3 Phoenix Phormulas at the start is good.

Figured out the problem. There was a "b" where there needed to be an "a". No idea why THAT happened, but it should be fixed as soon as I get a bugfix patch out, which should be ready by tomorrow.

Maybe I'll adjust Purple's air time- he spends a variable amount of turns in midair.

Thanks for the response! Great that you solved it!

Purple's airtime should be fine, if I knew it would stop eventually, I would've been fine.

Maybe just put a note in the Check info about it, unless I just missed it, then that's probably on me and not you.

Woo! Character return with upgrades!

So, if Magic Toxin Filter + Time Heals All not healing on the turn a status goes away, is not a bug, and Frost Burn isn't going to be added into the covered statuses and stuff...

I guess I'll try to get past a Hard Challenge Tower Lord again! I haven't even *seen* the Steam guy! heh.

(+1)

That actually is a bug- I just forgot it was there. While it is relatively minor, I might want to work out the timing or add a check in there. Having it cover Frost Burn is another adjustment that makes sense.

(+1)

Oh, great! Thanks! Last thing in this series is if Magic Toxin Filter healing should be degraded by Poison!
