0.3.7-P2: Bugfix Patch 4
Ruphand: An Apothecary's Adventure » Devlog
Good evening!
There were, unfortunately, some more remaining bugs that I needed to squash in the Challenge Tower. I've addressed the important ones and uploaded a fixed version! As usual, this replaces the original 0.3.7-P2 download; copy your save folder over as before to play the new version.
BUGFIXES:
- "Periodic" attacks like Volley, Storm Cloud and Arrow Rain should no longer get in a cheeky last hit when a battle ends. (The same goes for Artillery Fire in the later 0.3.6 dungeons.)
- Gleam Sand should now be allowed in the Challenge Tower.
- Block should properly be considered unlocked (assuming Brill has the skill necessary to unlock it) when using the My Mix apparatus in Aeternator's room.
OTHER CHANGES:
- By popular demand, the Challenge Tower has added a Loadout system (similar to the one from Aeternator's challenge) to its Normal and Hard endless modes! Just use the orb on Floor 1 before starting the first fight.

BUG? Rare Treat effects are surviving after battles... At least until I finish my second bag?
And the Life Meter under Brill doesn't have as much health as the one in the menu, until I forced it to update by Treating, since I took 0 damage the whole battle.
Slightly hard to mouse-walk into the Dark pre-Aeternator section because you have to set Brill up properly to path into the stairwell instead of being able to just clicking on the right tile from below it.
Okay, what's Gargoyle Wing supposed to do? I tossed a Heavy Grav at Aeternator as my second action after blocking with the Wing and it still only did 700 Damage, a.k.a 35%, instead of an additional 25%, however that's calculated?
Sometimes Conjure Coins doesn't immediately conjure Treasures. Seems like they need a few ticks to actually appear?
Well, Full Defense Build is almost good against Lanterngeists, gonna stick with it but grab the Secure Ring that I forgot, for another Rock Wall boost with the Great Vim Crystal.
EDIT: Full Defense is gonna be stuck against the Lifesparks, isn't it. No way Brill can damage them fast enough like that? But Landslide is an easy victory. Mmm.
I forgot to set the "Remove at Battle End" tag on the Rare Treat. Oops.
Aha, I see the problem: I set the wrong element ID in the shield's state, so it wasn't amplifying the Gravity Amp effect. (It should work like Elemental Amp effects; 700 against Aeternator should become 875 with the next patch, which will be particularly good for a certain task.)
I'll patch that issue with the Point Research and Regen Healing- probably will have more time for that a bit later today.
Thanks! May your days be relaxing!
Nice name for new character! I was wondering how it'd handle Sampling on Floor 1! Woo solved!
Huh, Riftkeepers don't really have a use for Attack, do they? I guess I should craft some anti-heal-whatevers just for them, and/or make some Super Shieldshockers. Can't just stall and punch them down even with a heavy Adrenaline setup because they'd heal and I'd heal and we're deadlocked! Heh!
...
Oh, that's interesting. Soaking Lanterngeists for 2 turns gets them to lose their Lingering, but then burning them gets the lingering back. hmm.
Last question for now: Do I need any No Miss effects or are there not any evaders in the tower?
Off the top of my head, I can think of one Challenger type and one Tower Lord with a standard Evade effect. The No-Miss effect could be helpful for both. (Note that "Jump" effects will still avoid a No-Miss attack.)
Thanks! Well, as long as I can get the, heh, jump, on them! I dunno which Challenger it is, but I'm facing Purpuro now~! Will I win? Let's see!
Whelp, dang. their Dragoon Leap lasts a looong time, or I shouldn't have opened up with a Inevitabolt.
I don't even Check anyone now. the Curse makes any turns not spent attacking, quite detrimental.
If I don't have any ingredients I wanna buy, and I've got all the equips I want
... Can I buy Research with Tower Points?
Oh, some Wizard Oozes can speak! Heh!
And now I see Beatrix... Possible to do with Cursed Coronet, but not without improving my potions to make better bombs.
...
Holy shit. I got Death Clawed. WTF. ... *Checks* - Well, that's an accurate name. Hmm. Note to self, try to kill that first.
...
Okay, so Recycled Full Tonic doesn't give an X-Tonic back. Dang. Neither does X-Tonic give Hi-Tonic. So Hi-s are the best at healing.
Maybe offer post-battle healing if Brill possesses Restoration, but not if she's wearing Bumpy Road? I've been potioning between battles but that's ingredient inefficient. Only Poison's annoying. I've also seen the big white and black Lords, still never won. Got white to like 28hp, did a bad Gravity calc.
Now that I think about it, that'd be a good idea. I don't want to step on the Spell of Clear Thought's toes too much, but smaller amounts of Research probably wouldn't hurt.
Cursed Coronet will be a tricky option to use in the Tower; it's strong for Challengers, but Tower Lords will be rough. I'd run it with the Aeric Raiment so that you can cap the debuff at 50%. (Maybe I could make it so Check doesn't tick down the Cursed Coronet debuff...)
Yep, my Coronet strat right now for Lords uses the Raiment, and given all my Stone's Throws, I had Brill throw Molten Iron for another 1.5 Rock Wall boost. Not sure that stacks with Vim Crystal actually, but threw some Super Powder of Rock after for the best Rock Walls I could get.
Maybe gonna use the Gargoyle Wing to turn my 35% into 60% Heavy Gravity, if it works like how I think it does.
EDIT: My previous posts had some final thoughts that you might not have seen at the end.
I've gotten a chance to look at the final thoughts.
If the "black Tower Lord" is the Tower Lord I'm thinking of, that one's very hyper-focused on offense, but has some inherent "prep time" where he uses a certain move. Chilling him or speeding Brill up will probably help a lot; on the other hand, if you can land a Tinderspark+Quickburn on him, that alone can eat through a generous portion of his HP while you block his attacks. As for the "white Tower Lord", don't rely on Immunity potions and, if you have Wind potions, be ready to deflect his big attack (as he always has to "Prepare" it, which will reset deflect immunity).
The post-battle healing would be an interesting idea. Builds that rely on being at low HP might also benefit from an "HP to One" NPC in the first room. I'll think about it! Still figuring out the logistics of buyable research.
Woo! Thanks so much! Will download tomorrow! Maybe I'll fight a Hard Lord again! Heh.
Oh, right, I should remember to take off my horn because it doesn't block Cursed Coronet attack debuff!
