Screenshot Saturday: 0.3.7 Preview #7!

Good morning!

I've chipped away at the My Mix Modifiers. I wish I could say the modifiers were all done, but last week was busy and I underestimated the work it'd take to get them in place.

However, I've at least managed to get the planning and icons together! Take a look!

From left to right and top to bottom, we have:

Extra Element, which adds a secondary element to your mix! You can spend a second modifier slot on Second Status to add its status effect; having two elemental status effects is powerful enough to be worth the extra cost.

* Multi-Target is exactly what it says on the tin. It'll run the research price up and you'll need some extra materials in the recipe, but it'll pay for itself against larger groups!

* Split Strike will split the damage into two hits, rounding up. You need to discover Bottled Lasers to unlock this option!

* Catalyst will have three levels, and each one lets the formula add a number of Catalysts while dealing its damage, similar to the Catalyst potions! These will add less Catalysts, but you're doing damage at the same time.

* Trigger Catalyst will expend Catalysts to deal bonus damage, similar to (of course) the Catalytic Trigger. Elemental Catalytic damage is inherently powerful, so it'll be a bit less per catalyst on its own. (Sorry, this can't be combined with Catalyst.)

* Flashy will cause the mix to inflict a dazzling effect on foes, similar to Gleam Sand. It's a cost-effective defensive option, but you'll need to discover Gleam Sand to unlock it.

* When Brill discovers an attack that ignores evasion effects, she can use it to add Unavoidable to a mix! This will make the mix ignore these effects, and it'll be fairly cheap.

* Similarly, Guardbreaking is unlocked by a certain guard-breaking attack. A potion with this effect will lower a foe's Block!

Blessing acts similarly to Holy Water, healing Brill's party when she uses the Mix; it will have three levels with increasing healing potency per level. Brill will need to discover Holy Water to add this to a Mix.

Wow! So many available combinations! Descriptions are gonna be really long and hard to optimize? Unless you put Personal Mixes in their own space to give them, well, their own space, like the Journal and all?

And at least Catalyst and Trigger can't be on the same potion! Can you have different types of Elemental Catalysts on the same enemy? Or is it that the Primary Element of the Trigger determines the damage type of all the Catalysts going off?

Unavoidable sounds powerful, but given how few enemies use it. heh.

I guess Split Strike makes the potion just a bit cheaper because multiple hits means more times that Defense comes into play? But is good for triggering Burns. and such.

I might look into using smaller text to display the added Modifier effects. Combined with the limit of 4 modifier slots and the explanation of each modifier being included in the process of making the mix, descriptions should be feasible.

Catalysts will use the existing Catalytic Formula status effect, so the main element that will deal damage is the Trigger.

A Split Strike potion would be fantastic for Burn and Block Buster effects, and would be powerful if you have a lot of Attack to outpace the enemy Defense (so Water might see some use too, or Earth if you stack Stone's Throw).

Yeah, 4 modifier limit is good. I wonder if Split Strike + Catalyst means double Catalyst application. Or if every Catalyst number can be divided by 2?

Multi-Target Catalyst is also a unique effect only available here for now.
