Screenshot Saturday: 0.3.7 Preview #2!
Good morning!
This week, I've had some proper time to put together the foundation for the first new system of the update. Some of that is working on the menu area previewed in the last update (which is starting to look quite a bit better), but a big part of it is adding some unique rewards to monsters.
In this screenshot, Brill's just defeated the first boss, and she's getting the usual rewards. Defeating the Azulean Widow gives you a spare Simple Shield to upgrade later, a Hi-Tonic, a Strange Material, and... 10 Mystical Research?
Yep, Brill will gain Research points in six different categories for defeating enemies! The next message window will tell Brill she also got 10 Matter Research; that's the reward from the boss. These will be used with the new update for something that can make each run truly unique, and they'll offer an incentive to fight monsters instead of running around them!
(And don't worry, I've got plans to give some extra Research to existing save files made before this update.)

"they'll offer an incentive to fight monsters instead of running around them!"
Yay! And woo! Run differentiation!
I guess Research is gonna involve the workbench from last preview! It's the most sensible place?
