0.3.5 P2 - Bugfix Patch 16

EDIT 2: Another, more important adjustment was made to the patch at 2:50 PM. This one fixes a pretty important progression-related bug.

EDIT: On 12:35 PM on April 7, some adjustments were made to the patch that fixed more bugs. These are more minor fixes.

Good evening!

I feel bad that I had to make so many bugfix patches. For a while, Ruphand's development was in a slump- solo game development, even with RPG Maker doing a lot of the legwork, is hard to do when you've got a busy schedule- and a lot of bugs probably slipped in around that slump.

This patch fixes a lot of bugs, so you'll want to download this one. As usual, the fixed version replaces the main download; you can move your saves over by going to www/save in your old install, copying its contents, and pasting them into the www/save of the new install.

BUGFIXES:

  • More clouds and walls no longer break physics. If Brill was in a now-inaccessible part of the Overworld, she can examine a gate to get back.
  • After explaining to the Ruin Keepers that the AI bug was not an actual bug, and thus was not a part of nature under their protection, they will no longer spam Keeper's Ward while alone.
  • A certain undead warrior is now much better at tanking, as he should be.
  • An item reward for a sidequest should no longer hover awkwardly off in the center of the screen.
  • After realizing that it doesn't make much sense, Brill's Blocking sprite will be properly shown when she's Blocking.
  • Polar Ectoplasms no longer apply their On-Block effects to their target with Ecto Punch. Sorry, Brill- you don't get ghost powers today.
  • A sleepy civilian in a later town no longer turns to face people in her sleep. What can we say? It's been pretty stressful around where she lives, what with the [SPOILER] and the [OTHER SPOILER] and the [NOT REALLY AS MUCH OF A SPOILER, BUT STILL A SPOILER].
  • The old Tailor's shop somehow had a stool glued to the ceiling. Apparently it's someone's idea of a prank. Well, it's off the ceiling now, and should no longer appear above Brill's head.
  • Second Round: The statues in the Cloudtop Palace Gallery no longer change when you enter.
  • Second Round: The log bridge in the Aeric Ruins can now be properly walked under.
  • Second Round: Treachery Fiends' Gravitation now should be properly evadable/counterable.
  • Third Round: Mysterious glimpses of the future shouldn't appear in the Aerialite Caverns.
  • Third Round: Brill should no longer be able to skip half an update's content by looking at a statue.

EDIT: Wearing the War Shield, Blocking, I don't have Shield Bash?

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YsO7Xkns-DiIAn22oQNL8Gonw8Qp9-1K/view?usp=shari...

Now that I've advanced the plot, I'm trying to gear up before the second dungeon, and grabbing the stuff in the waterway before the rope to the Cloudtop Castle Town. Meaning I'm Bluff-blocking to do Block-Star Burst tactics against Aeriloids.

Why does Bluff seem to be faster than just reapplying Block? Or am I mistaken?

And the grandkids' dialogue hasn't changed, but otherwise woo for ship acknowledgement!

Oops, War Shield Bash was set as the wrong skill type. I'll patch that tonight.

I managed to get a short on-Block animation, too! Think you'll like it.

Thanks so much for the quick updates! I'm a fan of punny name characters, so I also follow: yanderedev.wordpress.com/

And that has had so many bugs, hehe! As a solo dev myself, I sympathize and empathize!

For Walkability tests, there's probably some way to test for it, like making a tile act like Brill, and copy itself when it moves to a new tile, so you can see the map's walkable areas progressively fill itself?

------------Possible Spoilers Below, Future People!

I gotta check that Bridge I mentioned last time. Because you couldn't walk under it before. Sorry if I was unclear.

Ooh, can't bypass the Bridge with the raft, until you walk over the trigger! Nice forethought!

Aerialite sure "burns" in a creepy color!

Yeah, wow, so purple!

Entering the gallery... Is the changing statues on walking in, intentional? Creepy.

Mulan reference! Heh!

Statue Lover... That "surprisingly detailed statue"... Uh, Arissa is a prime example that transformation of flesh curses exist...

And now we know what Sonon looks like!

...
Overextend! Lol, braids, since that's her usual style!

...
Darn, Fiends aren't a type of Shadow, even though they're evil magic. Can't just use Holy Water on Avarice. Hmm.

Used Holy Water on 500+ HP Altar Hollow Brass: Did like 44 damage? I've got 13 Attack:

Ooh, that's a good idea. I'd have to set a few things specifically for testing, but this could be a big help.

The changing statues aren't intentional. I think I know the source of the issue, though.

Avarice Fiends do count as Shadow-based for Holy Water damage calculation. The issue is, the effect multiplies the final damage, similar to Amps; since Avarice Fiends have a lot of Defense, you might still end up doing very little damage if you don't have a lot of Attack. Maybe I should alter the formula a bit... I'll have that and the bridge fix out in the next patch.

EDIT 3: If I Star Burst for both my turns when facing these Covetous Fiends, I get two Attack Up symbols for a little while after selecting the second Star Burst?

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1irSyhaFT3TReF-IRvolbhOWHxZEuuNvw/view?usp=shari...

Ah, so one-shotting the Shadow with the Holy Water with Vae was just me being specced for it! And/or it having no Defense because it relies on its Darkness to just dodge everything.

EDIT: Heh, Head Servant talking about Potions, when I've just been dodging everything, and only used Holy Water and Star Burst.

One-shotting via Holy Water nets me 0 Star Burst for the turn? I shoulda put on Startforce. Ah well.

EDIT 2: Gravitation doesn't trigger Cryogem Counter on Treachery Fiends.

Even when Holy Water can't take out the final boss in one hit, Star Burst wipes out the minions fast enough that I took no damage! Woo!

Hmm, must be taking a bit to update the symbol since Fell Wind lands right on the next tick. Fortunately, it's not affecting anything mechanically, so that can be a project for later.

I'll put together a fix for everything else and patch this patch with the patch.

Thanks! Downloaded~!

Bought Robe Recipes III at the last possible instance. Was hoping to upgrade my Spellsteel Robe, but the shop doesn't sell Mithril. Well, still got time to get more gear. Spend that Needle, etc.

Ooh, so the needle. And that... Oooh.

Uh, maybe don't show the new arrivals in the caves yet?

EDIT: And that Sonon Statue, why's it talking about Traitor's Bane? I don't remember examining that statue....

Whoops, set the wrong switch there. Ah well, at least it won't break the cutscene later. I'll have that fixed next patch.

Funny- I haven't got a single shop that sells Mythril. It is a Sample reward in a few areas, and a 50% drop from Cave Worms as well. (A certain medal might come in handy, now that I think about it...)

EDIT: Oh dear. Things are probably happening out of order. Let me check.

EDIT 2: Great, I forgot one conditional branch and now you can skip to the second dungeon when it doesn't make sense. I'll release a re-re-patch to prevent that in just a bit.
