0.3.5 P2 - Bugfix Patch 13

Good morning!

Another set of bugs bites the dust. Among other things, this one fixes some passability issues and a very silly crafting recipe mistake.

As usual, the fixed version replaces the main download.

BUGFIXES:

  • A miniboss encounter in the Aeric Ruins now fights you if you try to walk past it.
  • The Hidden Forgemaster's Secure Ring recipe now properly requires the Safety Ring instead of the Secure Ring, because needing a Secure Ring to make a Secure Ring made zero sense.
  • The Master of Lanterns has had her AI improved- she'll wait for just the right time to use Shield Scorch now.
  • The Fishman  Major General Garb has been shortened to the Fishman Maj. Gen. Garb, allowing it to fit better in the textbox while still being the very model of a Fishman Major General Garb.
  • Red Cap has been working on an experimental "Invisible Spray" and tested it on one of the pillars in Jad's Folly. But it wasn't really working on anyone that wasn't behind the fourth wall, so he's since cleaned it off.
  • A few clouds and walls on the way to the Aeric Ruins should no longer break physics.

TEXT FIXES:

  • A few mistakes in dialogue and Quest Journal text have been fixed.
  • The Stjerneve Fragment has been renamed the Stjerneve Scrap.

Been Punching Master of Lanterns and using ~40 Star Bursts. She's up to Flames PQR. She's lagging out at ~4 FPS (F2), trying to stay alive. I say no. I keep punching.

Just finished the battle before I saw whatever comes after Flames Z.

Maybe have the Master not talk about Brill returning, until after she leaves?

Hmm... Those remarks about Brill's ancestry... Spoiler-y sorta follows, future people!

Brill's hair color sure is suspicious, when we see that Cloudborn have the same haircolor. Is she part-Cloudborn? And her dad and mom are dunno where. Is her mom the imprisoned Void Being, and her dad went back to Cloudtop???

Siblings and their winged grandfather just makes me think of A Very Long Rope To The Top Of The Sky. Eh.

----

Okay, it's basically impossible to keep Garett alive for the whole battle against Red Cap 2, if I don't spend Hi-tonics to heal off the Vampiric Matrix immediately and stuff.

Should Healing Boosts apply to all healing that originates from Brill instead of just healing that Brill gets? A.k.a "I'd like Treat to benefit from Lifeshield Robe and Omega Wreath, etc."

Wish this was like the Vae fight, where Brill can take hits in-place of her companion, but that's what Power Buster. Heal Booster and Heal Buster are for.

----

Mega minor things:

Lucky Lass says "Doesn't Stack" with capitals on both, while most others don't capitalize "Stack".

Illusive Rune ends on " )", instead of not having that space.

IMPORTANT EDIT: I just discovered an AI issue with Vampirist Matrix. The Coordinate Input state doesn't go away like it's supposed to after firing. I've got to head out soon, but when I get back to my computer I'll have a patch released for this posthaste.

I'll make sure those typos (and the invisible obstructions from the last post) are dealt with by the next patch.

Healing Boosts are effectively a "weakness" to healing. That said, the Omega Wreath will make Tonics do more on temporary allies.

I'm not sure whether to apply Tonic Boosts to Treat or not, as while it's technically not a Tonic, it runs on the same principle.

In the Red Cap Rematch, the main offensive threat is Red Cap, rather than Rauthaz; the only damaging attack Rauthaz can do requires direct input from Red Cap to start up. If Garett has trouble staying up, there's no Bounce Guard for Wind attacks, so he can always cast Twister to interrupt Red Cap and buy Brill some time to throw down more support. Thunder Resistance will help keep Red Cap's Tazer Shot in check, while Regen Formulas and Echo Tonics can be a lifesaver. Red Cap doesn't have any resistance to Ice either, and there's no Bounce Guard for Ice, so cooling him down with a Snow Bottle can help keep his damage output in check.

Boosting Garett's Attack (whether via a Power Booster or with Boost Attack) will make Electron spells stronger, but it'll also be great for his Bright Arrows spell- and when Bounce Guard W isn't up, landing a strong Soften on the Water-weak Rauthaz will make Bright Arrows (and a Rainfall Retort if Brill gets lucky with the random targets) extremely effective (EDIT: under the right conditions). A Heavy Grav Formula will also wipe out a generous chunk of Rauthaz's HP.

EDIT: I forgot Bounce Guard counts as a Block! This is a good time to use Guard Down- and since it's a Block, Shieldshocker potions are really going to come in clutch if it's not Bounce Guard T.

EDIT: Have a good day at work and stuff!!!

EDIT 2: Can't Deflect Vampirist Matrix? Check doesn't say that?

EDIT 3: Did the Stormight Shield just Chill BRILL? Instead of her enemies???

Okay, so Wind Stun strat seems viable, especially with Chill. Goodnight, gonna try this risky luck strat when I have more time.

Thanks for the Wind tip! Never really figured out how to use Deflect until now!

Was almost at max Undergravel and Sun Shards while trying to Sample the Daltah Mines for Verdantite for Stormight Shield to replace Laser Lens variants, spent the common materials on ~500 Gleam Sand. Spamming that and Quick Chill Ray while wearing a Speed set (Hasty Hat, Dragonfury Gauntlets, Catch Up), and having Garett deal 100+ damage every hit on Rauthaz with Thunder III, and using Multi-Twister effectively to stop the enemy party from attacking at all.

Probably can stun lock for a minimal investment in resources. Just failed latest attempt due to not using Twister variants enough, but seems viable! Again, thanks for the tip!

Deflect actually has a failure chance equal to the target's Wind resistance. So for instance, if a target is Slightly Resistant (75% damage from Wind, so 25% resistance) it's got a 25% failure rate. Of course, if the target is neutral or weak to Wind, Deflect always lands. Also, you can't deflect someone three times in a row, they become immune after the second Deflect until their next move.

Shoot, Stormight Shield is chilling Brill instead of enemies. Better fix that too. Gonna get to work on this patch.

More Invisibles in front of Brill, leaving to get Stall Gear so I lose less of my Coronet's Boost while waiting on Hammers to Swing.
