Screenshot Saturday: 0.3.7 Preview #30!

Good morning!

I tried to have the update out today, but there's too much testing that still needs to be done. I need to take another look at Aeternator's AI so he actually uses his attacks more often and doesn't just spend several turns buffing himself. Also, I used the wrong method and his Toxic attack caused a crash- glad I caught that one when I did!

The rewards, at least, are all functional now. Here's a look at one of them!

You might've noticed the Boom Trap Kit in the earlier screenshot with the rewards, so here it is in action! The Boom Trap Kit is a Trinket that allows Brill to set a Fire Formula as a counter, with some added bonus damage. The counter state lasts 2 to 4 turns depending on the Formula's level, and is cleared when it triggers (because it exploded). If it doesn't get used, the formula is wasted.

Slight risk for nice reward! Oh god, 267 damage? How?!?

Yay for catching the bug! Good luck with the AI! Thankfully it's pretty deterministic so it's not just bad randomizer seed!

Brill was using the Fire Formula III version of the Boom Trap (which has 120 base damage), and it looks like Brill was sitting at 25 ATK, with 76 damage taken meaning +7 Attack from a Ring of Reprisal, a +3 Rock Wall and 7 Stone's Throws adding another 5, and 170% Fire Amp (Fire Affinity and Sage Cloak) on top of a 7% boost from a Fairleaf Laurel. (I went here straight from an Aeternator attempt, Brill was kitted out to deal damage and deal it fast.)

That's 157 damage, minus 10 from the Corsairrot's defense = 147. Multiply by 1.7 and then by 1.07 and that's 267.393.

Cool! Er, Hot! ... errr.. Amazing! Brilliant!

Hmmm... Elemental Counters are sorta speed-dependent, or knowing your enemy. Either you're fast enough to set it up after a foe's locked in into an attack and can't change their elemental stuff, or you're sure that they can't avoid the element.
