Screenshot Saturday: 0.3.7 Preview #4!
Good morning!
This week, I've made some headway on My Mix. For one, the underlying custom data structures are set, so I can easily modify them and adapt them to multiple formulas; this means I can easily allow for a lot of mixes at once. And aside from that, I've also made headway on the interface itself. Have a look!
The values themselves are tentative for now (in particular, I might have to make the formula's scaling a little gentler), but selecting a Damage, Windup, and Delay value is ready to go! And it should be relatively easy to add Status Potency and Duration just below it. (Since Thunder and Wind have no status to add a duration to, they'll have an extra cost added to Potency and Windup, respectively.)
After that, all I'll need to add is Modifiers and a proper "finish" button, and some proper labels for the research totals over on the right, and the menu itself will be ready to go!

Protip: When starting a new game, change the directions on mouse movement to say "hold down the mouse click and hover over places to move rapidly keep advancing". I didn't figure out that I could hold and move instead of just clicking, until now, when I'm starting a new game to research Frossulves so I can reference them in my own LitRPG, since Brill's Bestiary doesn't talk about their weaknesses, and they don't seem refightable from Sampling the... Frozen Reach, yes, that's the name?
"Brill's only means of attack is by throwing potions"... Heh. When will Punching be mentioned? Never? lol
...
Trying to pathfind via the mouse to the Earth Crystal's dais and the tiles around it, Brill only moves one tile at a time if I click. I guess the Event tries to trigger even though the cutscene already happened.
...
A Visit to Town Hall being unlocked in the journal while still in the Earth Cave and Brill saying "I guess while I'm here", without ever being "here" in Orvas yet, is slightly confusing?
...
Journal: Reminder that "The Earth Crystal's Task" is too big for the screen when it's in big font.
And weird that she says she'll start the journal when she reaches sunlight, but it's available before. eh.
...
Lol never needing to use the Antipoison. Did the Azalean Widow used to have poison?
...
Check Specs aren't a Key Item? hm.
...
Hidden Library book of Check Specs Hint should probably sparkle?
...
EDIT: Skipped past a lot of stuff using an old save that hasn't beaten Ulfar yet. Wow I left him alone for a long time. That's what happens with a No Potion run! heh. Anyway... Leaving Lone Tree Map from the North sends Brill to the east.
...
Trying to mouse move from here via the mouse, if Brill steps forward, she stops, but then she can go on.
Just got some time to look at this! Sorry I've been slow to react; it's been very busy.
I think I might have had a poison attack in mind for the Azulean Widow at some point, but the main reason it's still there is so the player doesn't get caught by any other poisonous enemies (namely the Water Spiders in Belke Coast) without them.
Sampling in the Frozen Reach won't trigger another round with Ulfar and the Dragr after you've beaten him once.
I'll have the movement directions, journal entries, and tree exit adjusted in the 0.3.7 update!
Thanks! May the days calm down!

Looking at other crafting... Should the Fireproof Frock cost 2 Robes? I don't think any other body gear is implied to be really THICC! Heh.
Consistency notes: Heater Shield and Storm Cloak use "/" to list multiple elements, while other gear like the Terracotta Helm and Potter's Cap use "and".
Sharp Hat and its upgrades use commas and "and" to list all 6 Amp types, while the Pure Shield says "All Element Res". I forget if Gravity or Neutral count as elements for Pure Shield. I don't think it does?
Oh boy, 2 AM! Sorry I missed this post before.
If I'd hazard a guess at what my thought process was, the Fireproof Frock uses the extra robe as a second layer to keep out heat and absorb the Antifire. Though I'm not sure why it doesn't also offer a little protection against Ice in that case, maybe it's something to do with the magical Water component in the Land Coral.
I'll look through these items again, but usually these inconsistencies will likely have been to fit all the text in the window. I'll see if I can't smooth them out, though.
Well, get your rest! We know the game can be played from start to "Finish"!
Good point on the spacing! Now, was I unconsciously smart or just unobservant and lucky, that "Fire, Ice, Thunder, Water, Wind and Earth Res 30%" should be able to fit instead of Pure Shield's "All Element Res 30%", even if you line space after "Fire" instead of "Ice", judging from how Sharp Hat's description looks!
Because "Fire, Ice, Thunder, Water, Wind and Earth" don't need a whole line to say, but it's close.
So, Amps get "+[Number]%", while Res-es just get "[Number]%"! Interesting!
Hmm, with a 100 Damage cap, Thunder might be a redundant element, given Inevitabolt. Not that I remember how I got that recipe.
Still, with the ability to add Catalysts and such, these are gonna be some interesting potions!
Back when I was fighting the "Final" Dungeon, that was one of my hypotheticals for winning with minimum potions, just really charge up Inevitabolts, with Levinite being the limiting factor. I can only make 53 of them right now, without buying some more. heh.
I bet I gotta pick an Attack Element, so I can't just make a better version of Gleam Sand or something that's faster than 5% Windup, 10% Delay?
The main issue with Inevitabolt is its very low speed, so I think a Thunder-element My Mix will be able to carve out a niche for itself just by virtue of being fast.
Yeah, you have to pick an attack element. Unfortunately, a Neutral-damage My Mix would probably wreak havoc on the game balance.
