Screenshot Saturday: 0.3.6 Preview #4!

Good morning!

In addition to mapping, I've planned out all the monsters in update 0.3.6. There's going to be a lot of them, and looking at all the un-statted entries in the database is a little intimidating- especially since some of them will be fairly complex.

I've statted out the first of the monsters, however. Introducing the Hedge Knight!

If someone gets called a "Hedge Knight" in some snooty noble court, they're probably being insulted- as Brill's Bestiary entry will mention, it's a rude term for a landless knight. But in this first dungeon, these Hedge Knights take great pride in the title. Found patrolling the twisting mazes, they're always looking to test their skills.

Brill will have to take the fight to them quickly-their Beguiling Blade (pictured above) hits twice, lowers Block on the first hit, and inflicts Poison. And to make matters worse, their Counter Stance has the same Windup as Beguiling Blade. They've also got Water and Earth attacks, and won't waste too much time with anything else if they can hit a weakness with them. (Admittedly, this can potentially backfire on them pretty hard.)

Punny Name Enemy! Woo!

155 HP... Hmm... No problem! I think. Then again, I needed two turns to take down Enchanted Tomes, with their 135 HP? And these knights likely have higher Defense... How much damage can they deal in 2 turns? And more worryingly, do they have a bigger backup?

Now that I've hit the current endgame, I'm wondering where this plant dungeon is... Is it the second dungeon of 0.3.6? Because it doesn't fit the current endgame location...

EDIT: From the first preview "the next update's first dungeon."

Huh. That's weird. Is Brill gonna be teleported to another world or something?

The stat values aren't final- I might lower their HP a bit, and take some edge off Beguiling Blade because "hits twice and lowers Block" is fundamentally a strong effect already, and even more so with Poison tacked on. They're still going to be pretty tough, but fortunately, Brill will have help for this one. I didn't include him in this screenshot, but he's got a skill that can mess them up. (There's also a few specific items and equipment pieces that give them trouble.)

They might pair up with some of the other enemies in the dungeon, but anything beyond two of them is definitely going to be considered a miniboss.

This place is the first dungeon of the update. Don't worry- it'll make sense when you get there.
